  I began attending this church over ten years ago when I moved into the area because I knew others who attended. Though I was raised Catholic I kept coming to FCCLG over the Catholic church because of how welcomed I felt and found the ideology more aligned with my personal beliefs. This church has been able to support me through various life stages from a single 20-something, to newlywed, to mother. The services fulfill through the message and music. My children are excited about all aspects that they participate: Sunday School, music in the service, Messy Church, and social events hosted by the various groups within the church.
  Overall, a very welcoming church and congregation. If looking for a place to worship I would highly recommend attending FCCLG.

  I look for 4 main things in a church: preaching, music, people and community. When we were looking for a church home in 2015, we found First Congregational met these needs the best. First, the preaching. The pastor is a tremendous preacher, and she leads the congregation to be ministers themselves in an open, welcoming, truly Christian way. Her messages inspire and also invite questioning and exploration into deeper faith. Second, music. The music program is outstanding. Yes, it's traditional. And yes, it's amazing. From the children's choir to musical sermons, the quality of the music will amaze you! Third, the people. Lovely, friendly people of all ages make up the vibrant congregation. Lastly, community. There are many children, who are always welcome in worship, and there are lots of opportunities to share one’s gifts in service to the church and beyond. This church community is just that, a closely-knit, yet open, community.

  Before finding a church home in FCCLG, I had all but given up on the search for a church that my wife and I felt comfortable attending. This pastor and congregation have welcomed us with open arms. I am proud to say that they have shown me how the love of God and Jesus Christ can shine through.

  I've been a member of this church for about 2 years now. There are so many kind and caring people who attend this church. My 2 year old and 4 month old sons are always welcomed during worship, even when my toddler is wiggling in his seat. I would highly recommend checking this church out if you are searching for a community to connect with.

  "Church shopping" is tough. For me it's a tall order. I want a congregation made up of people who are full of life and spark, a pastor who can preach and who approaches his or her theology firmly rooted in the bible, and one who has the seminary education to back that up.
  I want a church where the pastor and the members of the congregation welcome all people. I will not attend a church that won't ordain a glbt person, marry glbt couples, and genuinely welcome glbt people in all aspects of church leadership and participation.
  And I want to bring my two boys who are toddlers. They aren't quiet. They aren't calm. They are active, loud, curious, and happy and they are welcome here too! Thank God for the UCC program, Messy Church, and that this congregation offers a Messy Church service once a month.
  At FCCLG I've found that church. I can quit shopping. Come check it out, you may quit shopping too.
